PSHCE/RSE

As responsible citizens at Andrew's we...

At St Andrew's Church of England Primary School, PSHE is an integral part of our school life.  It is taught both explicitly through subject specific lessons and also through other lessons in an applied manner.

We see PSHE education as a subject through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe, and prepared for life and work.

We know that our well-delivered PSHE programme will have an impact on both academic and non-academic outcomes for our pupils, particularly the most vulnerable and disadvantaged.

St Andrew's CE follow the Jigsaw programme which incudes RSE provision.

Jigsaw is sequential, the six puzzles (units) are shown below:

  1. BM (Being Me in My World) 'Who am I and how do I fit?'

  2. CD (Celebrating Difference) Respect for similarity and difference. Anti-bullying and being unique

  3. DG (Dreams and Goals) Aspirations, how to achieve goals and understanding the emotions that go with this

  4. HM (Healthy Me) Being and keeping safe and healthy

  5. R (Relationships) Building positive, healthy relationships

  6. CM (Changing Me) Coping positively with change

Attached to each unit is a knowledge organiser to support learning. Please find an example below from one unit of learning. There are parent knowledge organisers which are attached to each year group for you to read.
