Spirit Blazers
Children leading the way...
Spirit Blazers at St Andrew's play a vital role in developing our school. The children meet every other week to discuss ways to move our school forward and feedback on suggestions and ideas from their class. Minutes from meetings are displayed for everyone to view and the school ambassadors feedback to the class.
The Spirit Blazers have supported and led a range of initiatives. Currently the children are being 'Agents of change' .
The SPIRIT BLAZERS team have been working with Rev Ian, from St Andrew’s Church, to set up a child sponsorship programme through Compassion UK. This forms part of the wider schools “Courageous Advocacy” project developing the school family’s community and spiritual involvement. St Andrew’s Church have been supporting a child through the Compassion Child Sponsorship Programme for the past 15 years. Their latest sponsored child reached the age of 22 (at which the scheme ceases) earlier this year and Rev Ian and the Church leaders thought this was an opportunity to explore a joint approach with the school. Most recently the group raised money by inviting the school community to a cake and coffee sale where they were waited on by the Spirit Blazers.
The Spirit Blazers are also supporting the School Ambassadors to achieve the 'Planet Savers' Award.
